Chemical body burden can be ascertained through the use of a urine test, blood test, or breast milk test. The test reveals all of the industrial chemicals that are stored or passing through your body. When a person gets this test, they are often surprised to find that many of the chemicals stored in their body are from products or chemicals that have been banned from use for several years.

Throughout the world the use of chemicals has been employed for hundreds of years. Currently there are over eighty thousand chemicals used in manufacturing, production, and agriculture. Many people unwittingly are ingesting or applying dangerous chemical compounds to their bodies each day. On average, a person uses over 126 chemical combinations on their body during the day. These compounds are found in lotions, make-up, and other common items that are used. When chemicals build up in the organs of the body, they will eventually reach levels that can be dangerous.

The study of toxic chemicals, their affects, and ways to reduce or eliminate chemicals on a global level continues as more people become aware of the dangerous and chronic illnesses and diseases which are caused by a build up of toxic chemicals in the body. A person taking steps to remove or reduce chemicals from the environment today is taking steps that will create a healthier environment and life for future generations.

A knee jerk approach to eliminating industrial chemicals from one’s life is to start eating only organic foods. However, while eating healthier is definitely a wise choice, it does not always reduce the amount of industrial chemicals that are entering the body. When organic foods are grown in soil that has been contaminated previously by chemicals such as DDT, the foods absorb the elements of those chemicals.

In testing, most adults have shown some level of DDT in their system. This chemical that was banned from use several years ago. It was commonly used as a pesticide and remains in the soil for an undetermined length of time. Organic foods grown in soil contaminated by DDT will contain trace elements of chemical which will is then passed onto the humans who eat it.

There are many efforts being made to reduce the amount of toxic chemicals that are used and released into the air. A person making the decision to use products free of chemicals is taking an important step to protect future generations from the results of the chemicals that are being used in processed foods, agriculture, and manufacturing. Many manufacturers have recognized the importance of reducing and eliminating chemicals from their products and have taken steps to significantly reduce the toxic chemicals that they use when making their products.

PBDE is a flame retardant that has been used for mattresses, drapes, and furniture for several years. This chemical has been shown to be an endocrine disruptor and causes long term damage to the central nervous system. When looking for a new mattress or furniture it is important to check that the flame retardant used does not contain PBDE. Many manufacturers have already ceased using this product in the manufacturing process.

Many people who have changed their eating habits in response to the industrial chemicals found in foods continue to contaminate their food when they store it. Plastic containers contain toxic chemicals that leach into foods when they are stored. When switching to a green and chemical free environment, it is important to use containers that do not contain chemicals such as glass.

Eliminating chemicals from daily life will help to maintain a reasonable chemical body burden and significantly reduce the amount of chemicals that future generations are exposed to. By taking the steps to make sure that exposure to chemicals is reduced or eliminated, a person will find that they are able to maintain a healthy lifestyle while ensuring that their immune system is able to function at its optimum level.
